Reduction of hexavalent chromium by combining nanoscale zero-valent iron with biological technology
Original language description
In this research we studied the feasibility and benefits of combining two common remediation methods: reduction of Cr(VI) by nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) followed by a biological treatment. We confirmed the effect of nZVI on Cr(VI) reduction and theimpact of organic substrate on the effectivity of Cr(VI) remediation after the nZVI application. The added biological step helped the traditional abiotic method to achieve almost complete degradation efficiency.
