Smart thermoinsulation textiles by PCM (phase change materials) embedded nanofibers

  • Original language description

For the thermal insulation we need to make a barrier which stops the convection, avoid or minimalize the contact and reflects the radiation or makes a barrier which absorbs the heat. Absorption of heat requires materials with high absorption capacity. The highest amount of heat in physical processes is usually absorbed/transmitted by phase change of substances. Phase change materials use solid liquid phase change. Common materials with the highest phase change heat transfer (or so called heat fusion or release of so called latent heat) are water, lubricating oils (from crude oil) and parafins. Though using the high heat rate transfer of this materials by atmospheric pressure is complicated by the temperature of their phase change (0°C for water and approx.40 - 70°C for parafines). While using PCM for clothing (sportswear and other textiles) we are limited by 35 – 37°C of comfort for human body and by the room temperatures to approx. 70°C for commercial, 85°C industrial and 120°C military use while operating PCM for insulation of electronical components and devices.
