    The study of flow in the area of carotid bifurcation is important in the direct supply of the brain and there are very often the occurrence of pathological changes (aneurism, stenosis, sclerotic plaques), but also the presence of chemical receptors (glomus caroticum), which also influences the flow of bifurcations. In our approach to the description of flow behaviour within transparent model of physiological artery bifurcation we used the PIV method. The model was made of two materials with different surface tension and stiffness constants: epoxy resin (59°, 78 Shore D) and silicone Sylgard 184 (110°, 40 Shore A). We were interested in changing of the wall shear stress (WSS) in dependence on the material of the model and used working fluid. Here, we worked with water and blood phantom liquid. There were selected three regime of continuous flow in laminar and transient zona accordingly to Reynolds numbers (4 ml/sec – Rewater 1257, Rephantom 190; 6,267 ml/sec - Rewater 1971, Rephantom 298 and 16ml/sec Rewater 4093, Rephantom 618). The flow rates were chosen in dependence on the flow rate in common carotid artery in each important state, i.e. minimum steady flow (4ml/sec), maximum flow peak (13ml/sec) and mean flow rate (6,567ml/sec) - median averaged over the pulse period (1Hz). The results are presented as complex vector maps and WSS scalar maps and also profile plot taken in each branch of bifurcation, i. e. common carotid artery (CCA), internal carotid artery (ICA), and external carotid artery (ECA)
