Direct selection in the Blumeria graminis f. sp. hordei population in the Czech Republic
Original language description
Effect of the resistance genes to powdery mildew in the field that are present in domestic spring barley cultivars was studied. In nine cultivars possessing nine different resistance genes, considerable breakdown of resistance in the field was assessed after their planting on larger areas. Most of these genes (except for Mlg and Mla7) were exposed in the studied cultivars for the first time in Central Europe or they comprised comparable proportions in barley areas. The pathogen population was investigated in 1993 and 1999. Marked increase in frequencies was shown for the virulences VLa and Vat.
