Structures of barley mildew population in the Czech Republic and North Dakota in 1995

Original language description

Progenies of single barley powdery mildew colonies from the Czech Republic and North Dakota were analysed. There were considerable differences in the frequencies of studied virulences, virulence complexity and diversity between the populations. The virulence frequency of the Czech population can be explained by direct selection on commonly grown barley cultivars. This explanation does not seem to be completely valid for the population in North Dakota (particularly for the Va3 and Vp virulences).

Czech description

Byla analyzována potomstva jednotlivých kolonií padlí travního z České republiky a Severní Dakoty. Mezi populacemi byly zjištěny značné rozdíly ve výskytu sledovaných virulencí, komplexnosti a diverzitě. Frekvenci virulencí v české populaci je možno vysvětlit přímým výběrem na běžně pěstovaných odrůdách ječmene. Zdá se, že toto vysvětlení zcela neplatí pro populaci v Severní Dakotě (zvláště pro virulence Va3 a Vp).
