Structure and mechanical properties of cast steel microalloyed with titanium and vanadiumt
Original language description
Three trial melts of manganese steel (reference steel, steel microalloyed with titanium and steel microalloyed with titanium and vanadium) underwent special heat treatment. The goal of thework was an improvement of mechanical properties using effect of microalloyed elements and heat treatment. A mixtured structure of bainite, acicular and polygonal ferrite was obtained after the optimum heat treatment of microalloyed steels. The yield stress and ultimate tensile strength increased from 410 MPa and 566 MPa of the reference steel to 817 MPa and 909 MPa of the steel with titanium and vanadium additions respectively. At the same time notch toughness decreased from 180 J/cm2 to 63 J/cm2.
