Occurence of Z-phase in CB2 steel after long term creep tests at 650 °C
Original language description
Specimens taken from different parts of a pilot valve made of CB2 steel underwent long term creep testing to rupture at a temperature of 650°C. Microstructure was investigated before and after creep tests using both light and electron microscopy. Precipitation of fast growing Laves phase particles and slight coarsening of M23C6 carbides and MX nitrides occurred during creep tests. After the two longest times to rupture, 67,857 h and 82,649h, some plate-like nitrides of 100 nm and more appeared. Their chemical composition and diffraction patterns corresponded to cubic modification of the -phase. In addition, precipitation of small complex vanadium niobium carbonitrides was observed.
