Numerical and Experimental Analysis of a Rotating System with Gears and Rolling Element Bearings
Original language description
This paper deals with the introduction of the suitable modelling method for rotating systems with gears and rolling element bearings. Rotating flexible bodies are modelled using shaft finite elements, while gears and rolling element bearings are considered using special force element based on their real geometries, kinematics and transmitted force effects. The proposed modelling methodology is applied to a real industrial gearbox with helical gears and shafts supported by rolling element bearings. The same real mechanical system is also experimentally investigated. Both approaches should serve as tools for the evaluation of bearings performance and diagnostics.
