Original language description
Limited ranges of distances and displacements measurable by using spectral interferometry can be substantially enlarged employing a new method of white-light spectral interferometry with the equalization wavelength determination affected by dispersion ininterferometers or intermodal dispersion in optical fibres. We show that displacements and distances can be measured in a dispersive Michelson interferometer alone or in a tandem configuration of a non-dispersive Michelson interferometer and a two-mode optical fibre when dispersions in an interferometer and in a fibre are known.
