Dějiny Mšena I. Mšeno ve středověku

  • Original language description

In the period of the Middle Age, the village of Mšeno was part of the man system of the royal castle of Bezděz. As a village, it is mentioned for the first time in 1306, when it became part of the property of Hynek Berka of Dubé. Held by the Berka familyin the years 1306 ? 1352, Mšeno changed from a village to a town, which was gained by King Charles IV. The town experienced its most dynamic development in the 14th century, while the royal towns in the Bezděz region stagnated. In the following periods, the importance of the town was gradually decreasing. The older traditions concerning the Hussite campaign against the town and stories about burning down the local fortress were not confirmed. The existence of a fortress at Mšeno can be proved only at beginning of the 16th century. In the first half of the 16th century the town was granted the rights of an annual market.
