Original language description
We overview P colonies introduced in 2004 as abstract computing devices composed from independent single membrane agents, reactively acting and evolving in a shared environment. We deal with P colonies working in parallel and in sequential modes and withP colonies with different restrictions to rules and programs used by cells. Main goal of the chapter is to present the generative power of P colonies, to determine parameters of the P colonies, which guarantee their universal generative power, and to state a generative power of P colonies in some of the remaining non universal cases.
