The Concept of Love in Emily Dickinson’s Poetry
Original language description
The paper examines the concept of love in the oeuvre of Emily Dickinson, especially her private correspondence with Susan Huntington Gilbert Dickinson and poems included in Part Three: Love. It explains Dickinson’s metaphysical approach to love as an abstract notion and concentrates on gender shifts, original language structures and its symbolic meaning. The interpretations of the concept of love will be analysed through these constructions in relation to Dickinson’s poetic imagination and expression as means of revolt against Puritan social and cultural conventions and as means of establishing a feminist literary tradition.
