The article deals with the problems of outer balance development and export efficiency in the Czech Republic, selected transition economies and comparable member states of the European Union in years 1990-2000. For all transition countries this is a period, when they have to deal with problems of their economic transformation, as well as the period, when they prepare for their incorporating to the structure of European Union. This process had to be shown in the extent, intensity, structure of engagementof the Czech economy into international division of labour, and then also into development of outer balance of this economy.
