The integration of the European stock markets has increased in the course of the nineties. The comparison of daily returns and risks on stock markets in the Central European transition countries (Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary) has confirmed characteristics in the period observed which are typical for the emerging markets. Stock markets in transition countries have become increasingly interconnected. The daily returns correlation coefficients are generally positive but too low.
