Doing Business in Visegrad group countries
Original language description
This paper analyzes the business environment in Visegrad group countries. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) potentially constitute the most dynamic firms in an emerging economy. They are the ones most likely to move into areas of comparative advantage and high value added, though they often face economic, institutional, and legal obstacles. The paper first describes Doing Business project and presents information on the methodology of this measurement. Then indicators of different dimensions ofthe business environment (starting a business, employing workers, registering property, protecting investors and paying taxes) are compared. Specific graphic expression of these indexes were used for better illustration of the topic in this paper. We find that several dimensions of the business environment reached significantly different values in these countries.
