Original language description
After two years of slow growth there was an obvious recovery at the Czech insurance market in 2007, however, it will not probably last very long when we consider the worldwide financial crisis in progress. The total written premium rose by almost nine per cent, which practically means a twofold increase of the pace compared to the period of 2005-2006. However, we may observe various development of the insurance market in the European Union although we consider it a single European insurance market. Therefore, the paper pays attention to changes at the insurance market of new member states after they entered the EU. There will be an analysis and a follow-up comparison of selected markets of the European Union of members of the single European insurancemarket. The aim of the analysis is to emphasize differences and similarities in the countries, and based on this to consider a possible impact of the economic crisis on the development of the insurance markets.
