Regional Long-term Unemployment: the Case of Visegrad Group
Original language description
The paper studies long-term unemployment in the Visegrad Group countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland). Long-term unemployment persistence and its high share in total unemployment constitutes serious problem in these countries. In addition, the long-term unemployment rates are among the highest within the EU Member States. Using Eurostat data, the paper analyses and discusses development and consequences of long-term unemployment at the regional level. The main finding of this analysisis that both the level of absolute dispersion and long-term unemployment rate has not remained constant over time and that the absolute dispersion was positively correlated with the long-term unemployment rate.
