E-commerce nowadays presents the most progressive trend in increasing performance of enterprises and organizations and it is an important tool ensuring competitiveness on global markets. While most publications describe e-commerce mainly from the technical point of view, this article analyses the subject rather from the perspective of marketing and the Internet is considered to be another selling channel. At the beginning the report introduces history and development in the area of e-commerce targeted on merchant servers. It deals with the importance of web analytics as the tool for understanding behaviour of website visitors, as the tool for measuring the performance of e-commerce servers and as the basic of forming internet marketing strategy. The main objective of this article is to acquaint the reader with the selected indicators by which to measure impact and success of web applications and practically show, how these indicators easy to find out using web analytics.
