The presented paper deals with theoretical background of structural policy, which is one of the economic policies. Moreover, structural policy has cross-cutting nature and is a part of many economic policies like agricultural policy, transport policy, industrial policy or trade policy. The aim of the paper is to define structural policy and its objectives and measures. The paper also focuses on defining regional policy, or cohesion policy in the context of structural policy. Development of EU cohesion policy is mentioned. Last part of the paper deals with regional policy in the Czech Republic.
