Business or industry clusters are regarded as important tools of economic development which have effect upon competitiveness and performance of their firms they are composed of, the industries and regions in which they operate. However the measurement oftheir performance is not easy task as the composition of clusters varies as to firm´s size and the industry focus and their parts contribute to the overall cluster performance in a different way. The aim of the paper is to outline an approach to the assessment of cluster performance by application of cluster analysis method which enables to divide each cluster into sub-clusters with similar performance characteristics and to evaluate their impact for predefined business indicators. The designed approach was applied to Czech Machinery Cluster with business indicators of turnover, employees, equity, production and value added.
