    Competitiveness of the Visegrad Group Countries

    Nowadays competitiveness becomes the means and simultaneously the sub-target for achieving the main objectives of economic policy. Ultimately competitiveness growth in living standards and well-being of citizens raises. Since 2005 the World Economic Forum has used to review and measure national competitiveness by the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI), the weighted index of approximately hundred different criteria, that are grouped into twelve pillars of competitiveness. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the national competitiveness of the Visegrad Group (V4), i.e. the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic, between years 2008 - 2011. According to the GCI 2011-2012 the Czech Republic has the most competitive economy, followed by Poland, Hungary and the Slovak Republic.
