Higher education is facing major changes that will affect their future development. The following paper deals with some aspects of tertiary education, too. In the introductory part attention is paid to the language and education, which are humane and aneconomic nature. This is followed by an interpretation of the concept of a terminology of globalization in its various connotations, economic, linguistic and educational ones. The paper follows up on the description of the selected methods and procedures. The next section deals with the issues of foreign language teaching at universities and the discrepancy between the theoretical requirements of the European institutions and their implementation in practice. Subsequently, the perspectives of higher education from the view of the issue of higher education and the impact of the economic crisis on education are analyzed.
