Many companies began to realize the seriousness Intellectual property (IP) in the last few years. This issue came to the fore of interest of entrepreneurs because it is means of ensuring competitive advantages. The importance of patent protection is becoming more important due to the rapid technological development in certain fields such as IT. On the market there are always new products, process marketing innovations that arise as a result of continuous customer needs. IP should be understood as a managerial discipline within which offers a portfolio of formal and informal means of tools, their specifics purpose is to support the business. Companies should be automatically established intellectual property protection in the innovation cycle, because in the event of the premature publication of new knowledge e.g. through publication in the journal, before he was protecting innovation, then the owner of this means high losses and losing competitive advantage.
