European Union under the objective Cohesion emphasizes the balanced development that reduces differences (disparities) between the regions. The problem of regional disparities on the labor market is one of the major problems in that area. The paper Reduction of regional disparities on the labor market in the Moravian-Silesian region by the active labor market policy deals with this issue. The aim of this paper is to analyze the unemployment rate in the Moravian-Silesian, Olomouc and Zlín region at first. This analysis determines the amount of regional disparities between these regions. The further objective is to analyze the effectiveness of funds spent on active labor market policy. The aim is to find out which instruments of active employment policyare most commonly used, which region spent the most funds and whether it is possible to demonstrate by correlation analysis that the increase of funds spent on active labor market policy can decrease the unemployment rate.
