Efficiency Change in Banking Sectors of Visegrad Countries
Original language description
The aim of the paper is to estimate efficiency change in banking sectors of the group of Visegrad countries during the period 2009-2013. We applied Malmquist index on the data of commercial banks. Average efficiency was slightly decreasing within the period 2009-2012 that was probably as a result of financial crisis. The most efficient was the group of small and medium-sized banks. We found the positive efficiency change during the period 2009-2013 that was especially due to the catch-up effect. Resultsof technological change indicates the negative average annual growth of 3%. Average efficiency change achieved the positive growth in most groups of banks. Technology had anegative effect on the total efficiency change. The highest technological changereached the group of small banks.
