The issue of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has become a natural part of the market economy in today's globalized world. Foreign investments help to develop the economy because they affect the growth of labour productivity and provide the new financialcapital. FDI provides live new technological know-how and thus contributes to increasing knowledge of economy. Their entry into the selected region is to reduce regional disparities. The aim of this document was to make comparison of the impact of FDI oneconomic development regions in the Czech and Slovak Republic. And furthermore, to assess the impact of foreign direct investment, correlation coefficient was used, which was investigated by means of interdependence between FDI and the GDP, FDI and theunemployment rate between FDI and a number of businesses.
