The paper analyses the approach towards refugees in the connection with economic and social development in Czech Republic in the context of the European migration policy in the past and in the present. The particular attention is paid to the perception of social risks vis-ŕ-vis changing situation of Czechoslovakia. The paper reminds the connection between the immigration and social policy in the time of Great Depression in Czechoslovakia. The historical analysis will be based on unpublished archival sources and newspapers. The article describe main trends in Czech asylum policy and its social aspects.
