Original language description
The term poverty is a complex and complex term characterized by a material shortage. The concept of poverty depends on the standard of living of every society and hence the definition of poverty is undergoing some change with the development of society. The most widespread way of measuring poverty is the minimum level of income that is needed to meet the basic necessities of life, namely food and dwellings. In practice, the threshold is determined by determining for a given country the average amount of money needed to buy a daily calorific minimum for a given country. The aim of the thesis is to analyse statistical data of available sources, which point to the current socio-demographic aspects of poverty in the Czech Republic, and at the same time to present citizens' views on poverty issues from various demographic groups from the Moravian-Silesian Region in primary research. It is possible to say that people without work, old-age pensioners and students are most at risk of poverty. It has also been shown that as the population of the country increases, the income poverty line increases.
