    Extremist interpretations of Islam

  • Original language description

The author´s aim is to describe that extremist interpretations of Islam are in collision with principles of liberal democracy. These interpretations hold a form of hate ideologies that pursue power objectives. Mostly they pursue establishing an Islamic state where Islam would be a state religion. Furthermore, supporters of extremist interpretations of Islam do not hesitate to use violence for gaining these objectives, i. e. jihad as holy war. The author describes Wahhabism and Salafism as simplified and extremist interpretations of Islam, their dangerous manifestations included.
