The Impact of Modern Information Technology on the Resistance to Disinformation in the Police
Original language description
In an area of increasing digitalisation and rapid technological development, modern information technologies are becoming an essential part of the daily lives of all citizens. One of the new trends that has been discussed in recent years is the issue of the spread of disinformation and the impact of disinformation on the population. A specific area is police forces, where police officers are not only in the position of recipients of disinformation content but also place particularly high demands and requirements on members of police forces. The field of information technology is thus closely related to the issue of dissemination of disinformation or other manipulative information content. In this respect, police officers should have the necessary skills, abilities, and competencies to help them identify disinformation content from various sources to the maximum extent possible. The use of information technology thus has a major impact on the effectiveness of the work of police forces and the overall resilience of the police to disinformation. Various analyses of current trends in detecting and monitoring disinformation campaigns point to aspects based on which police officers detect and monitor various disinformation campaigns. The article deals with the impact of modern information technologies in the use of social platforms by police forces in the performance of their duties about the need to increase the resilience of police officers to disinformation and, at the same time, analyses the positive and negative impacts related to the use of social platforms in the performance of police work. Thus, the article aims to analyse the issue of the police force's use of social platforms in police work and to identify the positive and negative impacts in the context of disinformation and other false or manipulative information.
