Pracovní definici restorativní justice a její možnosti jsou formulovány takto: Restorativní justice je proces, při kterém všechny strany, mající účast na určitém trestním činu, se setkávají společně za účelem kolektivního posouzení, jak vyřešit nepříznivé následky trestního činu a jeho budoucí důsledky".
