Rape in the Czech Republic: Definitions, Figures, Offenders and Their Treatment (poster prezentovaný na mezinárodní odborné konferenci: 17th conference of The International Association for the Treatment of Sexual Offenders (IATSO))
Original language description
Rape is a serious sexual offence that is usually associated with forcible intercourse. However, the definition of rape varies from country to country and there is a trend towards expanding it to include other forms of behaviour that do not involve neither direct physical violence nor the commission of coitus. Thus, the treatment of perpetrators of this offence must be adapted accordingly. This paper presents the situation in this area in the Czech Republic. It describes what forms of behaviour are included in the Czech definition of rape and what the official data on this crime are at national level. Based on the results of empirical research, it presents the basic characteristics of offenders convicted of rape in the Czech Republic. It compares these characteristics with the measures applied to these offenders. The authors built on findings from recent research (VG20122014084, VI20172019087) focused on the violent sex crime and the related sanctions.
