Original language description
The Czech linseed breeding programme has been started since 1995 and renewed flax breeding programme which has a long tradition in the Czech Republic. During 2001 ? 2003 two flax and thirty one linseed materials have been tested in the varietal trials and evaluated in comparison with standard varieties according to the length of vegetation period, resistance to lodging, diseases, stem and seed yield, the content and yield of fibre by flax and fatty acid composition by linseed. The registered flax (Jitka, Venica, Tábor) and linseed (Atalante, Flanders) varieties were used as the standard ones. New flax and linseed materials were detected in order to be further developed and finalized resulting to the new flax and linseed varieties registration. The methods of linseed breeding with different fatty acid composition are presented.
