Recycling of Steel Furnace Fly Ash in Electric Arc Furnaces
Original language description
The fly ash generated as a byproduct of steel scrap melting in electric arc furnaces (EAF) contains hazardous substances and is therefore considered to be dangerous waste and needs to be treated accordingly. EAF fly ash contains besides hazardous substances such as lead, cadmium or hexavalent chromium also high amount of iron and zinc in form of oxides. The content of iron in form of Fe2O3 in the EAF fly ash can be as high as 50 ? 60 %, which makes the fly ash a potential valuable source of iron for steel production.
