Czech trouble-makers and Slovenian role models : conclusions
Original language description
The chapter compares the Czech Republic and Slovenia as representing two distinct kinds of socialisation experience within the EU: a Czech trouble-maker against a Slovenian role model. It argues that these differences in socialisation affected the character of their EU presidencies. Even though both presidencies were hesitant to some extent, as one would expect from EU members which are both small and new, the Slovenian Presidency performed better than the Czech Presidency. The argument is based on thedistinction between the four types of the EU socialisation (role models, foot-draggers, eurosceptics and trouble-makers) and the four types of presidency performance (winner, hesitant, arrogant and loser).
