    The fourth Prague European Summit (PES) was organized by the Institute of International Relations and the Europeum Institute for European Policy and also in cooperation with: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic and the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic. The main focus of this, already well established platform, was to debate on the highest level the pressing EU related topics. As always, it is a platform to present and dicuss both the IIR's and Czech EU related research. A special focus was put on the role of the EU as a global power, Brexit, populist and nativist forces, industrial revolution 4.0, Juncker’s plan and new EU financial framework. This annual international conference was featuring various panel discussions, breakout sessions, high level chats and Prague Talks with European politicians, academia, business leaders and media representatives. The keynote speeches were delivered by Andrej Babiš, Prime Minister of Czechia, followed by Věra Jourová, the European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality. Other notable speakers and panelists were for example Monica Frassoni, co-chair of the European Green Party, Aaron Wess Mitchell, Assistant Secretary, Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, U.S. Department of State, Jean-Marie Lehn, 1987 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Isabell Hoffmann, Head of the Research Project EUpinions at Bertelsmann Foundation, Jeremy Cliffe, Berlin Bureau Chief at The Economist, Balázs Molnár, Hungarian Deputy State Secretary for EU Affairs, Emily O’Reilly, European Ombudsman or Daniela Morari, State Secretary for European Integration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova as well as other European politicians, diplomats, scholars, or journalists. As integral part of the PES, the Europeum and the Institute of International Relations in cooperation with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung organized a series of side events, opened depates called Prague Talks. The first of Prague Talks titled "The Europe’s Global Role” took place on June 18. The second discussion "Europe of Citizens? Public Perceptions of the EU and Its Reform" took place in Prague Creative Center on June 19. The third discussion titled "EU Common Foreign and Security Policy after Brexit: Challenges for the Central Europe" took place on June 20 in European House. A regular part of the PES is a presentation of its main study. This year’s study ´The Future EU Multiannual Financial Framework´ authored by Petr Zahradník was supported by a working group which involved representatives of the Office of Government, Ministry of Finance and MFA. The group was coordinated by the IIR researcher Daniel Šitera. As the coordinator of the group, Daniel Šitera assisted the author in incorporating the group´s feedback in the final draft of the study and peer-reviewed the various working drafts of the study as well.
