Original language description
The generally used methods for the design and calculation of basic components of hydraulic presses (press and lifting cylinders) are based on the experience of the leading producers of hydraulic presses and of the classical theory of elasticity only. Paper presents the design of non-standardized hydraulic cylinders using both the above-mentioned approach modern computer methods and presents diagrams showing the way in which an easy design of the cylinder/hollow plunger body thickness may be made. The next step taken was the drafting of a rough design of basic dimensions respecting seal standardization and the way in which the cylinder is mounted. The goal was to minimize material consumption respecting fully the expected production technology. A many hours of computing have led to the specification of the relationships for a quit design of the basic proportions for pressure vessel and avoidance a gross errors or the repetition of time-consuming operations in the early design stages.
