Let us denominate the functional value dependent on some design parameter as a "state" of this variable. These states are mostly numbers, but in some design tasks the states of the design parameter are represented by linguistic expression.. For examp lethe equipment is cooled by a cooling liquid, and his temperature is influenced also by another accidental effects. Using cooling liquid with heat capacity C1 we can characterise the surface of the equipment like "lukewarm", using liquid with capacit y C2we denominate the surface like "burning". The task is to estimate the typical surface temperature if using liquid with heat capacity C3: C1 < C3 < C2. In the presented contribution possible way of the estimation of linguistic value is shown in ca se, that variable lays in a interval of two variables whose value are given. The algorithm of the estimation is realised in MS-Excel
