Original language description
In the article is described basic theory concerning the analogies between fluid friction and simultaneous head and mass transfer supplemented by analytically designed methods and charts for dimensionless criteria relationships of cooling systems. A cooling tower is a heat rejection device, which extracts waste heat to the atmosphere through the cooling of a water stream to a lower temperature. Common applications for cooling towers are providing cooled water for air-conditioning, manufacturing and of course for electric power generation. The small mechanical draft cooling towers or micro coolers employed especially in foodstuff industries, pharmaceutical, chemical and textile industries, large air-conditioning or refrigerating installations, where considerable quantities of water are used in condensers and coolers to remove the process heat. Their energetic charakteristics are very useful for the economic balance of cooling circuit and they are estimated in this article.
