Strength and fatigue life of bogies: experiences from colculations and tests
Original language description
In designing rail vehicles enhanced attention is given to proving a sufficient degree of structural strength and fatigue life of all the components that can directly affect operational safety. VUKV a.s. Prague and SKODA VYZKUM Pilsen have been cooperating for a number of years in verifying the structural strength and fatigue life of rail-bound vehicles´ bogie frames. Involved in this cooperation is also the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The present paper describes designated procedures and, in addition to that, some of the experiences gathered in making calculations and tests for leading world manufacturers of rail vehicles.
