When drilling it is a necessary to have a very quality shape of the drill helix and other functional parts which are in the contact with the work piece and chip. The cutting forces and the chip form depended on the friction energy and this energy depended on the used thin coatings. The right choice of the thin coating causes the stability and safety cut. So the contribution will be deal with useful properties of the thin coatings and their influences to the cutting processes when the hard to machine materials are machined.
