Forming Technology of Small Parts in Semi-solid State
Original language description
Thixoforming is forming in a semi-solid state. Currently thixoforming is mainly used for processing aluminium and magnesium alloys. Because of the high temperatures and complexity of the process, thixoforming of steels is not widespread at the moment. The aim of our research was to create technology for thixoforming small X210Cr12 steel parts. Tempering and deformation simulations were performed between 1200 ? 1320°C for this tool steel. On the basis of the collected data, technology for thixoforming and dies was proposed. During our experiment, parameters such as temperature and forging force were changed. The resulting semi-product was metallographically analyzed in detail.
