    Nowadays more and more emphasis is put on the protection of the environment - it is a natural and legitimate requirement of society and states considering the growing pollution and devastation of the environment around us. A variety of preventive as wellas reactive strategies are used for the preservation of the environment in industrial production. Cleaner production, ecodesign and ecolabelling are ranked among the preventive strategies. This paper focuses on an analysis and comparison of the voluntary environmental instruments in industrial engineering, an evaluation of their financial as well as non financial benefits, and their level of usage in the Czech Republic.
