At present, most of the cutting tools are deposited with the thin coatings. Before the deposition, the cutting tools ? the cutting edge and the helix (when is the rotation tool) are modified by the special methods. For the rotation tool (milling, drilling, taping act. tools) the OTEC method is used. It causes that the functional part has lower roughness and the cutting wedge has a small radius. So the article will be deal with the measured methods of the shape of the cutting tool and influence of the shape quality to the machining process.
