Controlled cooling of steel die forgings
Original language description
Controlled cooling as a part of thermomechanical processing is one of the ways through which can be achieved considerable cost savings in the manufacture of forgings. Mostly it is a controlled cooling from final forging temperature, which allowy to replace conventional technology of heat treatment. In many cases, the same or even better mechanical properties of forgings can be achieved with significant energy savings and faster production times. This paper presents the influence of controlled cooling onthe development of structures in the core cross section of the forgings for automotive industry in microalloyed stell 30MnVS6. Cooling process was tested in several variants with various cooling rates. For mutual comparison were analyzed microstructuresand tensile and impact test were carried out. The experiment also showed that, in compliance with the appropriate technological conditions can be obtained the structure of acicular ferrite, which in comparison with standard ferrite-pearl
