Proposal for Selecting the Most Appropriate Picking Method for the Type of Production and Storage Method
Original language description
This article deals with connections between expedition picking methods, types of production and storage methods. The basic idea is that storage requirements depend on the type of production. We consider that the customer (in this case represented by production) demands materials from the warehouse. This fact determines the choice of a specific picking method. For simplicity we distinguish only two basic types of production: repetitive and non-repetitive production. The first step of our proposal is to find a relationship between types of production and expedition picking methods. In the second step expedition picking methods and storage methods are connected together. The last step is the interconnection of the previous two steps and determination of the most appropriate combinations of picking methods for picking for production.
