Low-cost and Time-saving Thermomechanical Treatment on the 54SiCr Steel

  • Original language description

Decrease of energy costs for annealing to improve the formability of cold forming steel is a hot topic nowadays. The processing time during common soft annealing is approximately in hours. Low-temperature, energy efficient thermomechanical treatment wasdeveloped for significant time reduction to a few tens of seconds. It enables a change of morphology from lamellar into the spheroidised form together with refinement of ferritic grains. 54SiCr steel with initial lamellar ferritic-pearlitic structure wasused for the experiment. During experimental processing optimization the A c1 temperature was determined for different heating rates. Next, the appropriate heating and deformation temperature was determined as well. The main part of the research was todescribe the influence of deformation intensity and holding time between deformations for carbide spheroidisation and recrystallization of ferritic grains. The recrystallized structure which contained ferrite with dispersed spheroidised c
