Noise prediction in buildings based on Statistical Energy Analysis
Original language description
A detailed Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) model of the laboratory buildings belonging to the Regional Technological Institute at the University of West Bohemia has been developed to predict the sound pressure level in all areas after the installation of an anti-noise glass wall to decrease noise propagation from the operational compartments to the offices. The sound field in the rooms and work compartments are treated as a series of connected air cavities and are modelled with the help of VA One software based on SEA. In situ measurements are carried out at various locations within the building to provide energy inputs into the model and also to validate it. Good agreement is shown between the results from the measurements and the SEA model for the frequency range from 20 Hz - 20 kHz for the ten chosen operational compartments and the rooms closest to the sound source (water jet cutter). It is concluded that prediction using statistical energy analysis is a reasonable way to predict acoustic pressure values after the installation of a glass wall to decrease noise propagation from the operational compartments.
