    The design of compressor valves highly influences their reliability. To arrive at a valve design with a stable sealing element behavior, it is necessary to consider all the phenomena which influence it. The aim of this paper is to sum up these effects, which should be considered in predicting the behavior of reciprocating compressor valves.
