Technological and Thermomechanical Characterization of Newly Developed 1800 PHS and 2000 PHS Press Hardening Steels
Original language description
The aim of this work was the thermomechanical characterization of the 1800 PHS and 2000 PHS press hardening steel sheet alloys in relation to their hot forming behavior. On the one hand, it was important to understand how the processing parameters, i.e. austenization time and temperature, forming temperature and cooling rate, can affect the resulting properties of the component. Initially, the effect of the austenization temperature and time on the austenite grain size was evaluated. On the other hand, the limiting drawing ratio was determined with help of the deep drawing cup test, while tailored tempering tests were carried out to determine the effect of the heat treatment as well as the tool temperature on the resulting hardness. This work provides a technological guideline for the production of press hardened sheet parts made of these new developed press hardening steels.
